Clan-wide announcements:

This week's featured fiction is "Organ Grinder"! Read, rate, and review, please!
[2/15]

How does featured fiction work? The author of this week's featured fiction will pick the featured fiction for next week. For a list of previously featured fictions, please click here. Note that you can pick a previously featured fiction as long as it hasn't been featured in the past year. (Authors, I need your picks by Sunday at the latest. If something comes up, please let me know, and I will give you a one week grace period, otherwise I will pick for you.)

Don't want to read all the announcements every day? You don't have to! Just look for the alt symbol for new items and the alt symbol for items that have changed status.

Hmm, I don’t know if my reactions to this one are what you’re wanting me to have at all, ‘cause they’re not the ones I was expecting.

First, I didn’t find Miguel’s laughing at the box cutter all that hilarious. O.o It was like walking in on something awkward. I don’t know if you’re wanting us to like Miguel at this point, ‘cause this made me question his couth, and I’m kinda looking forward to him getting in trouble...

Just a small thing I noticed at the end in the line, "Her jerks backward, swearing, and I point the gun at him like I’ve seen the heroes do in all the action movies." I assume "her" is supposed to be "he" in reference to Miguel. Otherwise, hurray for Marcus! He'll no longer be defenseless soon.

"Artist," reviewed by Calamari

I really like the style of this one; it's pretty different from your normal shy-away-from-complex-sentences-filled-with-commas style. :3 (Though, I am a complex-sentences-filled-with-commas fangirl, so OF COURSE I like it.) But I really like the subject material too; you really capture the essence of getting totally lost in something (although I can't say that I've ever had this experience with art, since most of my artistic experiences have more weeping and wailing and crumpling things up).

Most of the stuff that needs improvement here is just surface stuff--word choice and proofreading--so here are the line-by-line comments...
